Documentary Filmmaker
I have been making films about people that interest me for most of my life, and I hope to never stop. The work I’ve chosen to share here are projects that I am incredibly proud of. These films feature friends, clients, friends who have become clients, and clients who have become friends. Several were produced with the help of my oldest friend, the multi-talented Jack Murphy. But for the most part they are projects where I was the director, editor, and lead cinematographer. I hope you enjoy.

What I Do
As a documentary filmmaker, you have to love and be adept in the full process. I have always worn a lot of hats—and now I do professionally, too.
01
Write
It all starts with the story. As a non-fiction storyteller, my strengths lie in my ability to anticipate potential plot-lines, and react in real time to changing circumstances, so that my editor (usually me) has the requisite material to work with.
02
Direct
The most interesting people aren’t used to being in front of a camera. I pride myself on helping talent feel comfortable on that side of the lens, while simultaneously managing a crew and tracking story.
03
Shoot
I’ve had a camera in my hands since middle school. I’m adept with cinema-cameras, mirrorless systems, Super-8, and smartphones. I’ll even shoot with mini-dv if that’s what’s available.
04
Edit
Editing is my bread and butter, and I can slice it with the best of them. I also build motion graphics, edit sound design, and handle color correction.
