This is the fifth time that Pilot Field has collaborated with Joe “Stringbean” McConaughy on a documentary. The first was The Run for Colin in 2014, where Joe hiked the 2600-mile-long Pacific Crest Trail in record time. I was part of the support crew on that trip along with Jordan Hamm and Jack Murphy. For Racing Arizona, Jack and I were back on the support crew, but this time we did much more filming than supporting. That role was covered by Katie McConaughy, Witt Wisebram, Maryann McConaughy, and Will McConaughy.
The post-production on this film took quite a few twists and turns, but ultimately resulted in what you see here. The film was shot by Jack and me, with Jack writing and recording the music for the film with help from Andrew Kothen, Stevie Boyar, and Michael Reiser.
